The expected primary healing time for your tattoo is 14 days. During the first nine days, keep the tattooed area covered. The following five days are to heal uncovered.
Keep your first bandage on for two days.
After two days, wash your hands before removing the bandage. Remove the first bandage by pulling the bandage alongside the skin, not away from the skin. This helps to keep the scab on your tattoo.
Wash the tattoo area with warm water and soap. Let the tattoo air dry for ten minutes.
Apply the second bandage (provided) over the tattoo area and leave it on for seven days.
After seven days, when the second bandage comes off, the tattoo will be healed over, but not fully healed. Use an unscented lotion to apply when the tattoo feels dry or itchy. Ensure that the moisturizer you chose works well with your skin; I prefer Lubriderm (unscented).
We're happy to provide touch-ups to your tattoo afterwards.
Staying out of the sun or applying sunblock will sustain your tattoo for longer.
Stay healthy and hydrated.
Redness around the tattooed area.
Bleeding or plasma (clear or transparent fluid) builds up within 48hrs of the appointment.
Slightly or medium sizes swelling for 48hrs.
Some tenderness and swelling around the tattooed area.
Warm to the touch.
If you have an infection, you may experience normal signs of healing listed above in addition to these signs of infection, which include the following;
Fever.
Swallow lymph nodes.
Pale in the face.
Excessive bleeding after the second bandage change and four days after the appointment.
Fluid, pus or other drainage accompanied by a fever.
Wash your hands with soap and warm water before removing your bandages.
Keep the tattooed area covered for nine days. (two days & seven days).
If the bandage is removed too early, you risk infection.
If you have any infection concerns, don't hesitate to contact a physician for advice within 24 hours.
